Bonnard House
Lively, artisanal, and deeply familiar Alpine wines in AOC Bugey
The story of Maison Bonnard began in 1988, when brothers Roland and Frédéric Bonnard decided to plant one hectare of vines in the heart of their parents' farm. What started as a family initiative has, thirty years later, turned into a 16-hectare estate, now also managed by the new generation: Romain and Anne-Sophie.
Between Savoy and Jura: the Bugey vineyards
The small village of Crept, located in the heart of Bugey, hosts the estate with its breathtaking landscapes and contrasting terrain. Here, the vines climb steep slopes, with gradients from 30 to 70%, where each plot tells a different story:
- Calcareous scree for Mondeuse and Pinot Noir
- Deep clays for Altesse
- Clay-limestone with rolled pebbles for Chardonnay and Gamay
The philosophy has always been one of common sense farming, naturally evolving towards biodynamics, to respect and enhance the authenticity of the terroir.
In the cellar: nature, moon and patience
Winemaking is consistent with vineyard practices: no chemical intervention, spontaneous fermentations, and minimal use of sulfites only at bottling. The entire process rigorously follows the lunar calendar.
This approach allows Maison Bonnard to create lively, magnetic, and balanced wines, capable of purely reflecting the personality of the alpine grape varieties and the steep terrain of Bugey.
Maison Bonnard is an invitation to discover the mountains through wine: authentic, sincere, unfiltered.
